Who Individual Therapy Is For

Individual therapy at Taza Therapy is designed for adults who feel like they're holding everything together on the outside — but inside, it's a different story. They're responsible, thoughtful, often the go-to person in their relationships or workplace. People rely on them. They may even appear calm, capable, and successful. But beneath that, they feel stretched thin, mentally exhausted, and unsure how long they can keep it up.

They tend to overthink everything — replaying conversations, second-guessing decisions, and imagining worst-case scenarios. Their mind rarely shuts off, especially at night. Sleep can be inconsistent or restless, and they often wake up already feeling behind. They might struggle with a constant sense of pressure, like they're never doing enough, even when they're doing a lot.

Emotionally, they may feel disconnected — from themselves, from others, or from any real sense of ease or enjoyment. Burnout, self-doubt, and a harsh inner critic are common. What they don't always say out loud is that they're tired of just coping. They don't want another set of tips to manage stress. They want to feel different. They want to wake up without that knot in their chest. They want to trust themselves, feel more present in their life, and stop feeling like they're constantly bracing for something.

What Individual Therapy Can Help With

Individual therapy at Taza Therapy addresses a range of concerns that adults in Newtown, PA, Bucks County, and throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Florida, and South Carolina come seeking support for.

Therapy for Anxiety and Depression. If you're feeling persistently overwhelmed, stuck in negative thought patterns, or struggling to find motivation or joy, you're not alone. Anxiety and depression can show up as constant worry, low energy, irritability, or a sense of heaviness that's hard to shake. In therapy, we work to understand the root of these feelings and help you build tools to feel more balanced, grounded, and hopeful.

Therapy to Process Trauma. Trauma isn't always obvious — it can live in the body and mind long after the experience has passed. You may feel on edge, disconnected, easily triggered, or unsure why certain patterns keep repeating. Therapy offers a safe, supportive space to process what you've been through, helping you regain a sense of safety, control, and emotional clarity.

Therapy for Life Transitions. Even positive changes can feel overwhelming. Whether you're navigating a career shift, becoming a parent, moving, or redefining your identity, transitions can bring uncertainty and stress. Therapy helps you process these changes, gain clarity, and move forward with greater confidence and stability.

Therapy for ADHD. ADHD can impact focus, organization, emotional regulation, and self-esteem in ways that are often misunderstood. You may feel frustrated by procrastination, forgetfulness, or difficulty following through, despite your best efforts. Therapy focuses on practical strategies, self-understanding, and building systems that actually work for your brain.

Therapy for Relationship Growth. You might notice patterns in how you show up in relationships — difficulty setting boundaries, fear of conflict, or feeling disconnected from others. Even if you're not in crisis, you may want deeper, more fulfilling connections. Therapy helps you better understand yourself in relationships and develop healthier, more secure ways of connecting.

Therapy for Divorce. Divorce can be one of the most emotionally complex experiences, often bringing grief, anger, uncertainty, and identity shifts. You may be adjusting to major life changes while trying to make sense of what happened. Therapy provides support as you process the loss, rebuild your sense of self, and move forward with clarity and resilience.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if individual therapy is right for me?

If you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or not like yourself, therapy can help — even if you can't fully explain why. You don't need to be in crisis to benefit. Many people come to therapy simply because they want to understand themselves better, improve their relationships, or feel more at ease in their day-to-day life.

What if I've never been to therapy before and don't know what to expect?

That's completely normal. The first few sessions are a chance for us to get to know each other and understand what's bringing you in. You won't be pressured to share anything before you're ready — therapy moves at your pace, and part of the process is helping you feel comfortable and supported.

How long will I need to be in therapy?

The length of therapy varies depending on your goals and what you're working through. Some people come for short-term support around a specific issue, while others choose longer-term work for deeper growth. We'll regularly check in about your progress and adjust as your needs evolve.

Do you offer virtual therapy sessions, or do I have to come in person?

Both options are available. Virtual sessions can be a convenient and effective way to access therapy from the comfort of your home, while in-person sessions offer a more traditional, face-to-face experience. We can decide together what feels like the best fit for you.

Is everything I share in therapy confidential?

Yes, your privacy is taken very seriously. What you share in therapy is confidential, with a few legal exceptions — such as risk of harm to yourself or others. We'll go over these boundaries clearly so you feel informed and safe.
